Did only 3 of you read my Feanen post???

I was really hoping for more feedback... even if you have nothing to say, tell me why -- is it too far-fetched for you? Does it alienate you because you love the traditional view of fairies as tiny mischievous flittery things? Did it just plain bore you? Any feedback helps -- especially if there is something that struck your fancy OR seemed really stupid.

(many thanks to lyric1459, peter, and sio, btw)

sorry, i hadn't had a chance to read it yet. working muchly, (and miserably sickish) and had just read the smaller posts in my favoritest friends joinals.

i shall read it with Godspeed. :) i'm very excited to...
belenen ══╣garrulous╠══
'sokay! Quite understandable!

I'm sorry you're feeling sickish... *tosses hug* get better!
aubkabob ══╣╠══
hee hee hee, thanks :)

at least i have the next two days off, so i can sleep tons and rest even more!
wallbrat ══╣╠══
Not that. Anything but a pout. *grins*

I had bookmarked it for later reading since I've been really busy lately. I love the depth of your descriptions. *smiles* The eyes do remind me of something out of The Merry Gentry series, by Laurell K. Hamilton.

It's great writing and I always enjoy reading it.

*wanders back to bed*
belenen ══╣vivacious╠══
yay! I look forward to your response!
wallbrat ══╣╠══
Actually that was the response. *smiles*
sinistrous ══╣╠══
Aww don't pout. I've just arrived home and now only starting reading my flist. :)

No actually I did read the post on the Feanen, but I think I had to go offline shortly after and didn't get the chance to post a comment - which I wanted to because I quite liked this race. They sound so mysterious and beautiful. It's not far-fetched, I love the way you describe your races, as though you're someone in this fantasy world describing them to another (like you didn't actually create them, they really exist). And I like their characteristics which distinguish them from others, and separate them from humans. I'll be reading more :)
belenen ══╣fantasy╠══
Thank you thank you!!!

Could you picture them? Do you find it believable that a race would have a cultural honesty like that?
mental_coercion ══╣╠══
Yes I could - their physical descriptions allowed enough for the mind to process and form them, which is what I enjoy doing; and one of my favourites is the wings. It makes them sound so delicate. And the hair, I love the idea of the hair being like spider silk. Not only is spider silk so fine and pretty, it's also supposed to be one of the strongest materials - which would be very useful for that race, wouldn't it? With hair that fine you wouldn't want split ends :P

As for the cultural honesty, I think this is a great attribute, because it specifically shows how non-human they are. They seem serious about their culture, yet very deep and emotional, which is a good balance.

It almost makes me want to get out my pencils again and try to sketch a picture of your Feanen; I used to love drawing fairy-like creatures. I just haven't had the motivation for a long time, lol.
belenen ══╣giggling╠══
thank you for 'splaining!

And you have no idea how flattered/delighted/thrilled I'd be to have someone sketch one of my creatures!
jedibubbles ══╣╠══
They are amazing, of course...I just didn't feel the need to comment on their obvious awesomeness. And I only comment if I get the urge to.
belenen ══╣garrulous╠══
I wasn't whining at you, darling -- I was whining 'cause there are 119 people who supposedly read my journal and only 3 replied. YOU've already known all that stuff and talked with me about it, so it's logical that you have nothing new to say. ;-)
writer_lilies ══╣╠══
That's the way it is sometimes. People'll read and not know what to say because they don't write or they don't know how to say it.
belenen ══╣shimmering╠══
;-) But YOU help me out! I really appreciate your comments, thank you!
writer_lilies ══╣╠══
You're welcome. I've just been on both sides of the fence. I'll find something to say about someone's writing.
scourge ══╣stiletto╠══
sorry sweetie, we just got our internet connection back up in the new place and i've yet to catch up on all the post i missed....between that and the black out. 8) i'll get to it soon and give you my thougts on it. Sadly, i'm not much of a writer, so....its not like it'll be worth much. *hugs*
belenen ══╣vivacious╠══
I always enjoy comments from you though -- I like the way you think, and you have such a great way of putting things. ;-)
eternitywaiting ══╣╠══
I've just had a short attention span lately. :-/

I liked your description of their eyes. Eyes are important to me. The only thing that didn't appeal to me about them was the thing about their wings, "that they can fold together into their backs, so that you can’t even see them." Wings are pretty and should be shown off, heh.

I also liked the thing about communicating through singing and body language. Much more interesting than the standard. :-)
belenen ══╣fantasy╠══
About the folding-wings thing -- that was for a plot twist, mainly, and I think I'll edit it out... Yes, it's gone!

Thank you! I thougt myself very original for coming up with that mode of communication. ;-)
darkpool ══╣╠══
I also bookmarked it to read later, just didn't have the time to read something I couldn't skim.
belenen ══╣garrulous╠══
Yay! Can't wait to read your thoughts. ;-)
ohsaycanyousay ══╣╠══
Your description of the Feanen is beautiful, and it allows me to envision their appearance quite readily.

However, the link to the drawing of their eyes did not work for me.

I don't often read fantasy books, but your description has peaked my interest. I went on to your descprition of the Edhelekharo; again, beautiful.

Now I am hooked. I must head to the library. However, I'm afraid that whatever I borrow will not live up to the expectations you have set in my mind. Your writing brings vivid imagery to my mind's eye... it's been a while since that has happened.

belenen ══╣fantasy╠══
wow, I'm flattered that I was able to so raise your interest!

Hmm. Well, if you can find them, Tanith Lee's "Biting The Sun" (also called "Don't Bite The Sun"), C. J. Cherryh's "Rider at the Gate," and especially Tad Williams' "War of the Flowers" all have very unique races/cultures in them, so maybe they'd interest you. They aren't the bestsellers though, so they might be a bit tough to find -- but surely your library will have one of them.
ohsaycanyousay ══╣╠══
Thank you very much for the recommendations. I will definitely try to find them,
Again, thanks.
belenen ══╣garrulous╠══
'welcome! ;-)
mabels ══╣╠══
i read it but I had nothing to say...I just dont feel I have anything to contribute becasue Ive no right to dictate how races are...so you have complete creative right to make them as you wish.
