And so inspiring:
"Generally I write the music first, and from the music [I feel] 'This is a scary song' or 'This is a moody song.' The feeling I get from the music is where the lyrics stem from. It’s kind of a mixture of places I’ve been, friendships and relationships I’ve been through. It’s generally things that have happened to me but I don’t want to make my songs so about me that people can’t relate to them. I try to make them general enough so people can make them their own. That’s what I hope for. But also, within that, be vulnerable. I think that’s a really an important thing — to be vulnerable."
